Today marks the 1st anniversary of Retentia judgement of bankruptcy on June 25, 2009. Retentia was the first major casualty of the crisis of the IT industry in Italy in early 2000. Led by its flamboyant chairman, Lewis Dearfriend, Retentia first tried to grow as fast as it could, believing corporate crisis to be temporary. Unfortunately, the unbridled ambition, coupled with rising economic recession and management short-sightedness, proved to be the company's undoing, and on June 2008, the company cancelled all of its activities, leaving dozens of IT professionals down and out. After several pointless disastrous reincarnations, the Retentia name disappeared from the IT market forever. Rest In Peace, Rete!
